Alternative history. This time, the Saxons received support from the Austrians against the Russians and Prussians. It was the first time I used my Uhlans, and we followed the Black Powder rules with the Last Argument of Kings supplement.

In 1763, when the Polish King August III died, a free election was imminent. His son, Frederick Augustus, did not receive support from the southern countries of France and Austria and thus, renounced his candidacy. Two factions in the country fought for power - the Familia, which wanted to reform the country with the support of Russia, and the Hetman Party, which was interested in maintaining the status quo. In 1764, a brief civil war took place between them, which the Familia won thanks to the backing of the Russian army. Stanisław August Poniatowski was then placed on the throne. In our game, things play out a bit differently. Frederick August receives support from Austria and France and decides to back the Hetmans. It could be crucial to seize Krakow and take the royal insignia. With these in hand, they can convene an Election Sejm and capitalize on the nobility's reluctance towards the Familia to be elected king. The small Russian forces are unable to stop the advancing Saxon-Austrian troops on their own, so Prussia provides military support. The first battle takes place at the crossing in Szuwarkowoszczewice, and the Second War of the Polish Succession begins.
W roku 1763 umiera polski król August III. Nadchodzi kolejna wolna elekcja. Syn Augusta III, Fryderyk August, nie otrzymawszy wsparcia tzw. krajów południowych, Francji i Austrii, zrzekł się kandydatury. W kraju o władzę walczyły dwa stronnictwa. Tak zwana Familia, która chciała zreformować kraj (ma ona wsparcie Rosji) i Stronnictwo Hetmańskie, które była zainteresowana utrzymaniem dotychczasowej sytuacji. W 1764 roku dochodzi między nimi do krótkiej wojny domowej, którą dzięki wsparciu wojsk rosyjskich wygrywa Familia. Na tronie osadzony został Stanisław August Poniatowski. W naszej grze wygląda to trochę inaczej. Fryderyk August otrzymuje wsparcie Austrii i Francji i postanawia wesprzeć Hetmanów. Kluczowe może być tu zajęcie Krakowa i zabranie insygniów królewskich. Mając je, można zwołać sejm elekcyjny i wykorzystać niechęć szlachty względem Familii i zostać wybranym na króla. Niewielkie siły rosyjskie nie są w stanie same zatrzymać nadciągających sił sasko-austriackich. W tym celu Prusy wsparły je militarnie. Do pierwszego starcia dochodzi na przeprawie w miejscowości Szuwarkowoszczewice. Wybucha druga wojna o sukcesję polską.
In our game, the main objective was a bridge - the first time it was on the table. It was quickly taken by Saxon and Austrian cavalry and then secured by Saxon Grenadiers. However, their victory was short-lived as Prussian and Russian cavalry charged upon them and defeated them. The Saxons were forced to withdraw. The Saxon cavalry's performance was tragicomic. Uhlans charged Russian infantry, who changed their formation and managed to survive the attack. In the next turn, the Russians pushed the Uhlan back. Meanwhile, the Saxons strengthened their positions alongside the river despite heavy bombardment from Prussian guns. In the end, the Saxons kept the bridge and won the game!
W naszej grze, głównym celem był most (notabene, również po raz pierwszy na stole). Ten został bardzo szybko zajęty przez saską i austriacką kawalerię a następnie zabezpieczony przez saskich grenadierów. Potem pruska i rosyjska kawaleria natarła na saską kawalerię i pobiła ją bardzo dotkliwie i zmusiła do odwrotu. To nie był jednak koniec tragikomicznego występu saskiej kawalerii. Zaszarżowała ona na zmieniającą ustawienie rosyjską piechotę. Ta zaszarżowana na flankę, wytrzymała to i następnie odrzuciła saskich ułanów! Jednakże, w międzyczasie Sasi wzmocnili swoje pozycje wzdłuż rzeki, pomimo ciężkiego ognia pruskiej artylerii. Gra się zakończyła. Sasi utrzymali most i wygrali grę!
