Muskets and Tomahawks - The Game No 1; Gra nr 1

Last thursday we gave the chanse for a new set of rules: Muskets & Tomahawks. This set is writen by guys, who already did the SAGA rules. It takes you to the time of colonials wars in North America. This game was first played ever in the club. Jack did the scenario and support with all figures and later umpired the game. In next week post I will write more about the rules, becouse we are going to play another scenario, and right now my knowledge about it is not good enought.
Battlefield. Pole bitwy.

So how the game was played? It was the time of French and Indian War (1754-1763). The  group of French forces (commanded by Paul) support with hudge Indian group (commanded by Derek) try to capture a  village defended by colonial and regular British forces (Jim and me). Our British task was to keep the civilians safe. We decided that we will going to keep all our forces inside the village and trying to stop the French and Indians as far from the buildings as it possible. Some of our troops ware still in reserves, and we ware able to bring them on the battlefield in next turns if we pass the test on bringing them on the table (thanks to Jim's good throws we did it very quickly). Unfornutelly we made few mistakes during the game. The first of them was to place our Indians in front of our regular British troops (actually it was my mistake, becouse I commanded them at the begining of the game), so they blocked their line of fire. The second of them, was my active defending against the hordes of Indians. According to the old rule that the best of defending is an attack, I used my irregulars troops to stop them, I never did and all my troops have been masacred, but it give me the time to understand  some abilities of my troops (for all of us it was the first time with the rules besides Jack, who already read them). We discover that the regulars are deadly in defending if they are in cover. During the whole game I managed to destroy with them whole band of Indians, and force to withdraw French unit (I think that tey ware irregulars, but I don't remember it now). After the massacre on my units Derek decided to attack the village, but was stopped by my regular British and have decided not to continue the attack. Probably it would cost him the loss of their troops, so he preferred to remain in the forest, and shoot my troops from this place. The same happend with the clash beetwen French forces and British commanded by Jim. French tryed to get closer to the buildings but ware stopped and forced to withdraw by deadly British fire. At the end of third turn we have to finish our game and it looks like it was British victory. Any possible attack of the Indians will finish with their massacre, and the same was at the other side of the battlefield, French will not be able to capture the village. We lost 17 figures, when French-Indians lost about 26 figures and none of our civilians ware dead.
Prawdopodobnie kosztowałoby go to utratę swoich wojowników, więc wolał pozostać w lesie i ostrzeliwać moje oddziały tego miejsca.
British set up. You can see the Indians standing up front of British regulars - it was hudge mistake. Brytyjskie ustawienie. Możecie zauważyć Indian stojących przed brytyjskimi oddziałami regularnymi - był to duży błąd.

French regulars. Francuski oddział regularny.

Some more French. Trochę więcej Francuzów.

Indians! Indianie!

Jim's line of defending. Linia obrony Jim'a.

My regulars. Mój oddział regularny.

The set of rules is very good. They are not very complicated, so at the end of the game we ware played it very easly. As I said before I write in next post much more about the rules, but right now I can said, that if you are interested in plaing the games with that period, this is the set for you.
And as always if you wanna to see more pictures from the game go to my flickr.

Somewhere in Manchuria 1930s; Gdzieś w Mandżurii w latach 30-tych XX wieku.

Unfornutelly I forgot to take camera with me to the club, so I do not have any pictures from our last game. At the end of this post you can find the link to the relation and some pictures as well on the Bill's blog. In addition to those relation I can add that the Japan forces defending the train ware under mine command, Donald was in charge on the Japanish rescue troops, Colin try to assault the train with Chinese regulars and Bill had the Chinese bandits.
Niestety zapomniałem zabrać do klubu aparatu, w związku z czym nie mam żadnych zdjęć z ostatniej gry w klubie. Na końcu tego postu znajdziecie link do blogu Bill'a, gdzie znajdziecie relację i kilka zdjęć. Aby uzupełnić relację na tamtym blogu dodam, że ja broniłem pociągu, Donald dowodził siłami, które miały mi przyjść z odsieczą, Colin chińskimi oddziałami regularnymi szturmującymi pociąg a Bill chińskimi bandytami.

Poland 1944 (7) - Germans are comming!!! p.2 - tanks; Polska 1944 (7) - Niemcy nadchodzą!!! cz.2 - czołgi.

Yesterday you've seen some of my German infantry, today is time for tanks:
Wczoraj mieliście możliwość zobaczenia mojej niemieckiej piechoty, dziś kolej na czołgi:

1. PzKpfw IV - Italeri 1/72
After this tank I said to myself - no more Italeri tanks, again... (it's one of my oldest tanks - as you can see it has some damages -  too short gun barrel... its a result of my frustration when I made this tank).

2. PzKpfw IV - Revell 1/72

3. PzKpfw IV - Plastic Soldier Company 1/72

4. PzKpfw V Panther - Hasegawa 1/72
I like this tank a lot. This Panther is my first tank I did after a long break, and the first I made in Scotland. This tank is always with me on any wargaming shows.

5. PzKpfw V Panther - Revell 1/72

6. PzKpfw VI Tiger - Hasegawa 1/72

7. PzKpfw VI Königstiger - Revell 1/72

8. StuG IV - Revell 1/72

Impetus - my first game (Feudal Japan battle); Impetus - moja pierwsza gra (bitwa w czasach feudalnej Japonii)

As annonced this time our game in SESWC was battle in 28mm in feudal Japan with the Impetus rules. We've played on two teams: Derek with Paul against Jim and me. As for me and Paul it was something new, Jack help us both with the rules. Jim and Derek played their figures, whils me and Paul use Jack's figures.
Jim i Derek używali własnych figur, z kolei Paul i ja korzystaliśmy z figur Jack'a.
Battlefield. Pole bitwy.

Before I tell you something about the game we played, I would like to say something about the rules. Its covered a large period of time. with this set and their modifications you are able to play games in the stone age and in the 19th centuries as well (Jack told, that there is a set about future times - so as you see it cover a large period of time).
The rate of moving is 2cm.  Depends of the category of your unit, it can move faster (use more rates of move) or slower. Every unit has its power, it means the number of dices it use during the atack and defend. The hit you can get on every 6 or double 5.  After the duel of two or more units, the loser must check its morale. If failed must widraw at the range of half of D6 (1 - 1cm, 2 - 1cm, 3 - 2cm till 6 - 3 cm), and the winner can follow the atack at the range of half of D6 and clash again the same unit in several times, if it succesfull (in our game I had the situation, when my cavalry charge 3 times during the same turn on one unit). All casualtes are marked by loosing the numer of dices, the unit is able to use. If the unit lost all of its dices, is destroyed and removed from the table. The set is very easy, and is very enjoyable. Its give the real spirit of the game, when the opposite forces standing face to face during the battle. More about the rules you can read here: http://johnswargames.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/impetus-and-basic-impetus/
Zanim opowiem o rozegranej bitwie, kilka słów o samych zasadach.
Dają prawdziwego ducha walki na polu walki, kiedy wrogie sobie strony stawały do walki twarzą w twarz. więcej o tych zasadach możecie przeczytać tutaj (w języku angielskim): http://johnswargames.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/impetus-and-basic-impetus/

Jim's forces. Siły Jim'a.
My forces. Moje siły.

Paul's forces. Siły Paul'a.

Derek's forces. Siły Derek'a.

This time I cannot tell you to much about the story of the game, becouse I'm not very familiar with the history of the conflicts in feudal Japan. As mentioned above, we played in two teams, but the battle was divided in to two separate battles: Jim agains Paul and Derek against me. Derek choose to move quick forward against me whilst I decided slowly  move forwardand keep the line as long as I can, with cavalry moving on my flanks. We got in first contact with our cavalries. My horseriders loose the fight, and has been totally destroyed, but Derek's cavalry suffer huge loses, so I just needed to get a hit on them, to destroy them. Unfornutelly becouse of huge Derek's luck, he survived with this unit almost to the end of the game, when finally I'd killed all his horseriders. That was on my right. In the centre my foot units slowly got in contact with enemy. It started with both, Derek and me, fired with arquebuses. And we suffer some casualties, but I suffered them more. Derek try to charge my units, but have to widraw, and then I decided to charge. Becouse during the one of the initiative throws I managed to rise skills of my general (I started with general on level 3 and up them to 4 while Derek was still on 3), so I usually started the turn first and slowly I had eliminated Dereks units one, by one. The very good charge of my cavalry on my left, finally stopped by Paul's cavalry (it was only one moment during the whole game, when three parts of the game ware involved into the fight) destroyed totally Derek's right flank. Finally I whiped all Derek's troops off the battlefield. On the other side of the battle, Jim fight with Paul. Jim decided to hold the line, while Paul tryed to broke it. Unlucky for Paul, this tactic was not good enought to win the battle, and Paul began to lose his troops. Finally Jim decided to do a massive charge with all his troops, and it was the end of Paul's forces. During this last charge Paul's general has been captured by Jim's samurais. The battle was decisive victory of Jim's and my forces! And this way, my first contact with Impetus rules has been made :)
W końcu wszystkie oddziały Derek'a zostały rozbite i zmiecione z pola walki. I w ten sposób zakończyło sie moje pierwsze spotkanie z zasadami gry Impetus :)
Battle before my decisive charge in the centre and on the left flank. Bitwa przed moja ostateczną szarżą w centrum i na lewj flance.

End of the game: my victorious troops. Koniec gry: moje zwycięskie oddziały.
