For a long time, Michael worked on his version of the rules for the Franco-Prussian War. He took as the background Black Powder and started changing things. He incorporated some of his ideas from the Seven Years and the Second Empire was born in that way. For more details about the rules, follow the link at the end of this relation. We used 10mm figures for our fictional battle, all from Michael's collection.
Przez długi okres czasu Michael pracował nad swoją wersją zasad do wojny francusko pruskiej. Za podstawę wziął Black Powder i zaczął zmieniać rzeczy. Wprowadził kilka swoich pomysłów z zasad Seven Years i w ten sposób narodziło się Second Empire. Więcej informacji dotyczących tych zasad, znajdziecie w linku na końcu tej relacji. As it was the test game, we decided on a simple scenario. Prussian could win the game, either by breaking the French lines or just by killing more enemy units. French had to kill more units. For the French Mike took the main command, Tim commanded our right flank and I took the left flank. For the Prussians, Alasdair took the centre, Peter the right flank and Michael the Cavalry on their left. The game started with the Prussian cavalry charges. The first led by Michael's Death Hussars succeeded in destroying the Mitrailleuse gun. On the other side, Peter's Dragoons were stopped and then annihilated by my infantry and guns.
Ponieważ była to gra testowa, zdecydowaliśmy się na prosty scenariusz. Prusacy mogli wygrać grę, przez przełamanie się przez linie francuskie, bądź też zniszczenie większej ilości oddziałów. Francuzi by wygrać grę musieli zniszczyć więcej jednostek. Dowódcą Francuzów został Mike, Tim dowodził prawą flanką a ja lewą. Głównym dowódcą Prusaków został Alasdair, Peter dowodził prawą flanką a Michael kawalerią po ich lewej stronie. Gra zaczęła się od szarż pruskiej kawalerii. Pierwsza prowadzona przez Huzarów Śmierci (Michael) zakończyła się powodzeniem i zniszczeniem karabinu Mitrailleuse. Druga, dokonana przez dragonów Petera została zatrzymana a następnie zniszczona przez moją piechotę i działa.
On our right, Tim bravely stood against Michael's cavalry charges. After some initial melees he finally managed to set up his guns and in that way stopped and then destroyed Prussian cavalry.
Po naszej prawej Tim dzielnie stawał przeciw szarżą kawalerii Michaela. Po kilku początkowych starciach wręcz, w końcu ustawił swoje działa i ich ogniem zatrzymał a następnie zniszczył pruską kawalerię.
On our left, I slowly moved forward. Prussians (Peter) were quicker and they took their positions ready for me. However, I had a surprise for them. My rifles had a longer range and it was me, who first opened the fire. I caused some losses among the Prussian lines, but Prussians soon get support from their guns, which balanced the forces. Till the end of the game, no one get the advantage and we had a little draw.
Po naszej lewej, powoli parłem naprzód. Prusacy (Peter) byli szybsi i zajęli swoje pozycje i oczekiwali na mnie. Jednakże, miałem dla nich małą niespodziankę. Moje karabiny miały większy zasięg i to ja pierwszy otworzyłem ogień. Prusacy zaczęli ponosić straty, jednak wkrótce wsparła ich artyleria i sytuacja się wyrównała. Do końca gry nikt nie zdobył przewagi i osiągnęliśmy tu remis.
The game was decided in the centre. Mike pushed forces through the big forest and lost the advantage of the long-range of our rifles. There were more Prussians than French and soon one after another French battalion was destroyed. Mike managed to hold the line, but he suffered massive losses, which gave the Prussians victory.
Gra została rozstrzygnięta w centrum. Mike pchnął swoją piechotę przez duży las i w ten sposób stracił swoją przewagę większego zasięgu swoich karabinów. Tam było więcej Prusaków niż Francuzów i wkrótce jeden za drugim francuski batalion zostawał zniszczony. Mikowi udało się utrzymać linię, jednak olbrzymie straty jakie poniósł, dały zwycięstwo Prusakom.
