Last week we all met at Hugh to play War of the Roses game. This time the game was prepared by Donald and Martin, who made a great job. They've chose the Battle of Mortimer's Cross. All of us received the historical character, who will be playing during the game and all necessary informations about that person. This idea was very good. For the game we have used the Hail Cesar rules and in majority it worked very well.
W zeszłym tygodniu spotkaliśmy się u Hugh'a by rozegrać grę z czasów Wojny Dwóch Róż. Gra ta została przygotowana przez Donalda i Martina, którzy wykonali kawał dobrej roboty. Do gry wybrali bitwę pod Martimer's Cross. Każdy z nas otrzymał postać historyczną, którą będzie odtwarzał w grze oraz wszystkie potrzebne informacje na temat tej osoby. To był naprawdę dobry pomysł. Do gry użyliśmy zasad Hail Cesar i w większości przypadków pracowały one dość dobrze.

Before the game has started few players has the option of changing the sides. Only Stafford and Edmund, Lord Grey managed to do it. Their forces were:
Przed grą kilku graczy miało możliwość zmiany stron. Jedynie Staffordowi i Edmundowi, Lordowi Grey udało się to zrobić. Ich siły to:
Stafford:
1 of Retinue, 1 Cavalry, 1 of skirmishers armed with handguns and 1 longbowmen.
Lord Grey:
1 of Retinue, 1 cavalry, 1 billmen and 1 longbowmen.
2. The game. Gra.
The battle started with Lord Clifford moving fast forward against forces of Edward. Very quickly they charged, however Edward managed to push them back. That bravely attack cost Lord Clifford's life.
Bitwa zaczęła się od forsownego marszu Lorda Clifforda przeciwko siłom Edwarda. Bardzo szybko zaszarżowali, jednak Edwardowi udało się ich odepchnąć. Ten brawurowy atak kosztował jednak życie Lorda Clifforda.
On the other end Lord Grey charged on Warwick's forces. This attack has been stopped, but Yorkists lost their bombard, which was very useless during the battle.
Na drugim końcu Lord Grey zaszarżował na siły Warwicka. Ten atak został zastopowany, jednak Yorkowie stracili swoją bombardę.
On my table end, my forces charged the Beuford's forces. The foot knights, survived the charge of the mounted knights who also get slaughtered. The same happened to my handguns and I had to withdraw with the rest of my troops to get some support from the rest of the Yorkists.
Na moim końcu stołu, moje siły zaatakowały siły Beuforda. Piesi rycerze, przeżyli szarżę moich konnych rycerzy, którzy również zostali wyrżnięci. To samo spotkało moich strzelców i musiałem się wycofać z reszta moich oddziałów, by zyskać wsparcie reszty Yorków.
Finally to the fight in the centre joined rest of the troops: Warwick and Earl of Rutland supported Edward and Talbot supported and later Courtney, the forces of dead Lord Clifford. During this clash the Kingmaker get killed. That forced the Yorkists to move back, however they managed to do it in good order and still were able to hold the line.
W końcu do walki w centrum dołączyła reszta oddziałów: Warwick i Earl of Rutland wzmocnili Edwarda a Talbot i później Courtney siły poległego Lorda Clifforda. Podczas tego starcia zginął Twórca Królów. To zmusiło Yorków do wycofania się, jednak zrobili to w dobrym porządku i linia została utrzymana.
When it looked like the game finished with a draw, the forces of Lord Fauconberg joined finally the battle. Together with my and Earl of Rutland's forces attacked Beuford forces. The Lancastrian commander get surrounded and in the next turn would be possible get killed, however we have not enough time to figure it out. The game finished with narrow Yorkist victory with 6 of their units destroyed against 7 of Lancastrian.
Kiedy wyglądało na to, że gra zakończy się remisem, do walki w końcu dołączyły siły Lorda Fauconberga. Razem z moimi i Earla of Rutland siłami zaatakowały oddziały Beuforda. Dowódca sił Lancasterów został otoczony i w następnej turze najprawdopodobniej ubity, jednakże nie mieliśmy już wystarczająco czasu by się o tym przekonać. Gra zakończyła się minimalnym zwycięstwem Yorków z 6 utraconymi oddziałami przeciw zniszczonym 7 Lancasterów.
