Chrząszczyżewoszyce 1939.

Today the game we had last week and my favourite 2WW system: Rapid Fire! Sadly we didn't have any game with this set recently last year, so to prevent that situation recent year I invited our club members for a game. The other opportunity was to finally use my collection for Poland 1939 in 20mm. For the first game I once again used the fictitious village of Chrząszczyżewoszyce and put the scenario loosely inspired by the battle of Wizna.
Dzisiaj gra, którą rozegraliśmy w zeszłym tygodniu i mój ulubiony system drugowojenny: Rapid Fire!

1. Introduction. Wprowadzenie.

The German  blitzkrieg into the center of Poland continues. There is a big chance to close large number of Polish units in a huge encirclement. However Polish command is aware of that situation and trying to move their forces away of the enemy. Wehrmacht forces reach small river close to the village of Chrząszczyżewoszyce, defended by National Defense Battalion. Germans need to cross that river over the bridge (there is no other possibility as around are only swamps, imposible terran for German tanks), but the Poles are prepared and will resist. Will Germans execute their plan or will it be stopped by Polish defenders?
Niemiecki blitzkrieg do centrum Polski trwa.

Victory conditions:

German victory: 50% Polish forces destroyed or 3 German units cross the Polish table edge.
Polish victory: 50% German forces destroyed or Germans unable to cross the river with vehicles at the end of 12th turn and no German vehicles on Polish side.

Warunki zwycięstwa:
Zwycięstwo Niemców: 50% polskich sił zniszczonych lub 3 niemieckie oddziały osiągną polską krawędź stołu.
Zwycięstwo Polaków: 50% niemieckich sił zniszczonych lub Niemcy niezdolni do przekroczenia rzeki pojazdami na koniec 12 tury i brak pojazdów niemieckich po polskiej stronie rzeki.

Time for the game: 12 turns and German forces move as the first.
Czas gry: 12 tur, Niemcy zaczynają.

On roll 1 roll another D6. If a 1 is rolled again, the charge under the bridge is no longer available and it need to be set up again. 1 figure from Demolition Team need to move to the bridge and roll D6. On a roll 2-6 the charge is set up again, on 1 the operation failed and need to be repeated during next turn.
Saperzy mogą wysadzić most w dowolnym momencie gry.

3. Coy: 3 x PzKpfw II, 2 x PzKpfw III

All German units must be put in order, in which it will enter the table. Every turn Roll a D6 and on 1, no units this turn; on 2-4 - 1 unit this turn; 5-6 - 2 units this turn. The road is very narrow and no vehicle can overtake another until it crosses the bridge.

As soon as the Luftwaffe Spotter is on the table, he can call for the air support. The target must be visible for any German unit. At the beginning of  German turn, the player mark one target for Luftwaffe and roll D6 (it will arrive on 3-6), it is Me109 (2 x MMG, 2 lights bombs).  On a roll of 1 roll another D6. If 1 is rolled again, the Polish player designate 1 German unit, to be the target for the plane. Plane stay on table for 1 turn. You cannot call an aircraft for the next turn if it is still on the table. If the Luftwaffe Spotter is lost, then Force HQ can call the plane (will arrive only on 5-6).

Vehicles can crossed the the river only by the bridge. In case of bridge damage it can be fixed only by the engineers. They need to be with a contact of the broken bridge. The repair must be their only task during the turn. The bridge will be repaired on a roll  of D6 of 5 or 6 from next turn. Infantry can cross the river and swamps as the linear obstacle.
Pojazdy mogą przekroczyć rzekę tylko przez most. W przypadku zniszczenia mostu, może on zostać naprawiony przez Saperów. by go naprawić, muszą się oni znaleźć w bezpośrednim kontakcie z mostem.

3. The game. Gra.

Campbell as the main German commander put his troops in the following order:
Campbell jako główny niemiecki dowódca ustawił swoje oddziały w następującym porządku:

  1. Armoured Car Recce Company
  2. Panzer Battalion (1st Company, then 2nd Company, then HQ and 3rd Company at the end)
  3. Luftwaffe Spotter
  4. 1st Infantry Battalion
  5. Engineer Company
  6. 2nd Infantry Battalion
  7. HQ

Peter put his troops around the village and some of them were hidden and some of them were put in trenches.
Peter umieścił swoje oddziały wokół wioski z czego część została ukryta, a część umieszczona w okopach.

The first German vehicles appeared on the table and as soon as it entered the bridge Peter blow it up. He bought some time for himself to take the reinforcements. First he called the Vickers tank Company, then TKS Company and the infantry at the last. In the meantime German forces stuck in big traffic jam. Campbell and Michael had  been forced to move them on foot. Here I allowed Campbell to change his order and exchanged 3rd Tank company with Luftwaffe Spotter, to keep German players interested in the game.
To wszystko by utrzymać zainteresowanie niemieckich graczy grą.

The support of Luftwaffe helped Germans a lot. They managed to softened Polish defence lines in the village and Engineers managed to reach the broken bridge. On turn 5th the bridge was reopened. Now nothing was able to stop German tanks. Finally on turn 12th they managed to destroy more then 50% of Polish troops and finally won the game. I think, that if I would not allow for any changes in German order, the game would finish with completely different result. The scenario will be continued.
Wsparcie Luftwaffe bardzo pomogło niemcom. Udało im się zmiękczyć polską obronę we wiosce a saperzy mogli dotrzeć do mostu. Podczas tury 5, udało im się naprawić most.

Podobają mi się zwroty akcji no i nazwa wioski. Choć trochę za mało w niej ś, ć i dź ;)
