Polska 1944 (26); Poland 1944 (26) - Marder II, Hetzer.

Dzisiaj kolejne modele jakie ostatnio pomalowałem: SdKfz 132 Marder II i Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer. Są to modele żywiczne firmy Milicast Model Company.
Today two next models I have recently painted: SdKfz 132 Marder II and Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer. Both are the resin models from Milicast Model Company.
As far as I'm quite happy with the Hetzer, I am disappointed with the Marder. According to the photos from the period, the gun schould be movet a little to its back, however, assembly method does not allow this and the model looks the way it does, a little bit of ahistorical... Resin figures come from the same manufacturer as well.

Polska 1944 (25); Poland 1944 (25) Panzerkampfwagen V Panther Ausf. A (PSC)

Today I am presenting the first purchase made at Salute and has already painted. It is Panther Aufs. A with Zimmerit from the PSC in 1/72. First I was worried, that this time the PSC put into the box only two tanks instead of the traditional three, but when I opened the box and saw the level of detail of the model, I changed my mind right away. Anyway, check  the pictures.

First Battlegroup Kursk game. Pierwsza gra Battlegroup Kursk.

Today, the next update of my blog. This time the game from last Thursday, where we decided to try out rules Battlegroup Kursk. It was also the chance to try out of some of my new models (I will show  you them later), as well as several older , which have not yet had the opportunity to take the part in the fighting.

1. Orders/Rozkazy.

Due to the confusion caused by the attack of Soviet forces, Germans withdrew their troops from a town. The Soviets did not use that fact and did not took the town. With the new day  both sides realised in the situation and both send the appropriate forces to fix a previous day mistake.

3. The Game/Gra.
The game started with the exchange of fire between several T34/76 and two Panthers. It was obvious that the fight the large distance does not work, so the both sides moved toward the town.
Already in the early rounds, it turned out that the a superior number of the Soviets turned against them. Low throws for the number of orders not allowed to use to many units and Germans quickly began to use it by eliminating T34s, one by one.
However, for some of the time of the game, Soviets gained some advantage and were able to take the church in the town, but not for long... Their action against Panther tank with anti-tank grenades failed, and were massacred by the deadly machine gun fire.
Very soon took advantage of the technical superiority of the Germans. Better guns versus not the best armor and quickly main road was full of wrecks of Soviet tanks. In this battle Germans have achieved a clear victory.
Szybko tez dała znać przewaga techniczna Niemców. Lepsze działa kontra nie najlepszy pancerz i szybko główna droga zapełniła się wrakami sowieckich czołgów. W tej bitwie wyraźną wygrana odnieśli Niemcy.

4. Summary/Podsumowanie

In general, I like the mechanism of the game. The way the units are  activated is very similar to those from Battleground PzG, and the specificity of guns and battle tank fighting is very similar to the Rapid Fire! - my two favorite systems for World War II gaming. Unfortunately I exaggerated a bit with the amount of troops on the side (about 550 - 600 points), but I wanted to see as much as possible - but it's really slowed down our game. But we still managed to get some result. Surely this system deserves much more attention and surely you will see more games with those rules.
- czyli do moich ulubionych systemów do walk w realiach Drugiej Wojny Światowej.

Whiskey Creek - 12.10.1777

The last time I am neglecting a bit my blog, and this is mainly due to the game I am playing and painting projects that are in progress. Now I decided to catch up with some relations. Today, a brief report from the game that we played at  Bill Gilchrist's home in the previous Saturday.

1. Orders/Rozkazy.

Following the failure of their surprise attack on the British at Germantown Washingtons’a army retired towards Valley Forge. The rearguard under Greene camped on the Whiskey Creek on the night of 11 October.
Earl Cornwallis commanding the British vanguard decided overnight to launch a surprise attack on Greene’s isolated command. Marching before daylight his plan is to fall on Greene’s camp at first light as had been done at the Paoli massacre. He is helped in this by well paid local guides.
Except for a few pickets the Patriots are still encamped as the first British troops approach their positions.

3. The Game/Gra.
The whole game proceeded in several stages and early split into two separate clashes. From the beginning, the British on their left side held their own much better than the right wing. Very quickly took their initial positions and soon began fighting with the Americans. They very quickly gained an advantage and defeated the forces of the Patriots gathered here. But they could not cross the river because of things on their right flank went very bad.

At the British right wing, from the beginning (due to bad throws) everything went wrong. Americans also had a lot of problems here, because once on the left flank, the troops ware busy fighting, all gathered here forces were still absorbed in a nap. Finally the Americans wake up and managed to takea defensive position along the fence line. British attack broke down and soon British forces were defeated. However, with the help arrived the victorious forces from the left flank.

Before British support joined the to fight the British cavalry from right wing charged at American  skirmishers. It would seem that this action should result in the total destruction of the infantry. None of these! They survived all five rounds of fighting with the British cavalry and finally had to withdraw. Using this confusion both sides began to take better positions for the final clash. At this point the game has to be ended, because the British victory was more than clear. Probably the next  British attack would have ended in a massacre of the American forces.
Nic z tych rzeczy!

France 1940 pt. 2; Francja 1940 cz. 2.

Earlier this month, I played with Campbell the game by his scenario, concerning on the campaign in France in 1940 (reports can be found here). This time we played a continuation of that game, but in a much larger group. For the game we used  Bolt Action rules and system tokens with the end of the turn and with special events.
Do gry użyliśmy zasad Bolt Action i systemu żetonów z końcem tury i zdarzeniami specjalnymi.

1. Orders/Rozkazy.
After the capture of the village and the hill, German column reached the river. It turned out that on the other bank is a very large group of French troops. Thus began the struggle to gain control of the crossings over the river: the bridge and the ford.

3. The Game/Gra.
The game started very well for the French, who eliminated in the first movement the German AT gun, which Germans unfortunately set up on top of the hill... It appeared that it was  very important for the whole game, because Germans had been temporarily deprived of the AT support on the left side and  French tanks could move to attack without any threat.
The fight with the French tanks tried to make the German tanks, but the accuracy of their guns left a lot to be desired. As a result of that, the first German tank has been destroyed.
In the meantime, the German infantry took the buildings on both sides of the bridge and began exchanging a fire with the French on the other side of the river. This exchange lasted until the end of the game and beyond eliminating French mortar did not bring any results. The situation has not changed even with arrival of the German infantry team and the Panzerjager I. The infantry was struck by the plane, which appeared as a special event, and the self-propelled gun was immobilized by the French tanks.
The real problem for the Germans was the center of the French defense, namely battery of guns. Against them Germans sent the plane. Although the Luftwaffe eliminated one of the guns, but the rest of the forces remained practical untouched and could continue their fight.

French response was immediate. First French aircraft knocked out the Pz III and then the French tanks after crossing the river eliminated Pz IV and took the hill. The fight came to an end and the French were victorious.
Francuska odpowiedź była natychmiastowa. Wpierw francuski samolot wyeliminował Pz III, a następnie francuskie czołgi po przekroczeniu rzeki wyeliminowały Pz IV i zajęły wzgórze. Walka dobiegła końca i Francuzi odnieśli zwycięstwo.
