Wohnzimmerfeld 1762.

If one lives in hard times, the one needs to adapt! With that sentence, I will start this relation from the game. Yes, you are right. Despite the lockdown in Scotland, we had a game without breaking the law. I know, that some of you already tried that way of gaming, but for us, it was the first time. I'm talking about the game over the internet communicator. We tried a few programs and after some technical difficulties etc. we had a game through the Houseparty. Michael prepared everything in his living room and despite being the opposite side he had to be also a cameraman, while I sat in my painting room and rolled some dice and giving orders to my subordinate units. For our game we used Michael's rules Seven Years, to test some new changes. All pictures used in this relation are done by Michael.

Do naszej gry użyliśmy zasad napisanych przez Michaela, Seven Years, by przetestować kilka nowych zmian.

Russian infantry units were treated as small versus Austrian infantry units.

Rosyjskie oddziały piechoty były traktowane jako mniejsze względem austriackich oddziałów piechoty.

2. The game. Gra.

That was the fictitious battle, in an alternative reality, where Cathrine the Great coup did not work and Peter III stayed as the Tzar of Russia. He obviously changed the sides during the war and supported his new ally against Austrians. I started the game. Instead of moving forward against the enemy, I decided to stand and with the firing of my guns destroy enemy guns. I was very lucky and both Russian artillery pieces were silenced for the rest of the game. I'm not sure, but they did not fire even once during the whole game. That was the factor which affected the game result at the end.

Oczywiście zmienieł on strony w wojnie i wsparł swojego nowego sprzymierzeńca w walkach przeciw Austrii. Dopisało mi szczęście i rosyjska artyleria została uciszona do końca gry.

Finally, the distance was shortened and the fire exchange started. When Russian were pushing and preparing for melee, my units were tried to hold the ground. Sadly I had not enough ADCs available and was unable to do any offensive action. I rather used them to rally my units, what was another factor which influenced the game result.

Firing exchange did not bring any results, so we both looked for that on our flanks. First, the heavy cavalries started the fight. In that case, the Austrians were better and forced Russians to flee from the battlefield. It was the first Russian lost of the game. On the other flank, we had a draw and both light cavalries had to withdraw and lick their wound and prepare for another action.

The right Russian flank was open, but I was unable to use that advantage. My cuirassiers were in a very bad shape and cannot attack exposed units. Michael decided to use that and attacked my infantry units. I have to admit, that that attack almost broke my central brigade. But somehow my units were still in the fight.

The situation becomes even more serious for me when my Hussars were forced to flee and right flank gets opened. I was though that the game is lost, then thinks get changed...

Firstly, the Russian guns were finally destroyed and I was able to push my guns to support my central brigade and secondly, my cuirassiers were finally rallied and ready to act. The guns shattered to pieces the charging unit and heavy horses attacked exposed Russian flank. On the other side, my Jaegers forced the Russian cavalry to withdraw.

Po pierwsze rosyjskie działa zostały w końcu zniszczone i byłem w stanie podciągnąć je by wsparły centralną brygadę i po drugie moi kirasjerzy zostali w końcu doprowadzeni do porządku i mogli zaatakować odsłoniętą flankę rosyjską. Po drugiej stronie moi jegrzy zmusili rosyjską kawalerię do odwrotu.

That actions finished the game. Russians were only strong on their left flank, while the central and right were almost destroyed. Austrians lost only Hussars and one battalion of Infantry, while Russians their cuirassiers, both guns and grenadier battalion. It was a great game, which had its moments and could go in another way. Changes in rules worked very well and the game gave us some new solutions to the new rules. We decided that we will continue to gaming that way, so the next game will be very soon.
