Mehr, 1758

Last week we had Seven Years War game. After several tests, Michael finally published his set and this time we were going to check, how it will work with historical scenario. For that we used one of the Charles Grant's games and that was battle of Mehr, fought 5th of august 1758.

2. The game. Gra.

The objectives of the game were simple either to destroy the opponent or for French move 4 Infantry and 2 cavalry units through the enemy edge. As we did not wanted to repeat French disaster from the history, so we came with cunning plan. My division of 4 Infantry Battalion and 2 Cavalry Regiments moved from one flank to the other. In the meantime Angus and Alasdair were going to kept busy Allied forces with frontal attack. That plan worked well, but took a lot of time and my units finally landed on the other end almost at the end of the game. Finally I was able to attack. Both Michaels aware of their situation had to prevent it and sent their Cavalry supported by some infantry against my forces. The fight begins and my cavalry get repulsed. That's classic situation were mine and Mike's cavalry clash. I had to regroup and charged again. Finally after several attempts I managed to create the gape in Allied lines. Sadly we had not enough time to finish it and the game finished with a draw. During the game I was not happy with the cavalry rules Michael decided to publish as he made them to simple for my taste and were differ from the tested version (which I think were very good). Anyway the rules worked well and the game was a lot of fun.
W końcu byłem gotowy do ataku. Przeciw moim oddziałom wysłali swoją kawalerię i pewną ilość piechoty. Walka się zaczęła i moja kawaleria została odparta. To klasyczna sytuacja w moich i Mike'a starciach kawaleryjskich.
