My trip to Ireland. Moja wycieczka do Irlandii.

My lady had to go to Dublin on June and she convinced me for a small trip to Irleland. The idea was to see something from both the Northern and the Republic. However we are prefer to be very indepednt during our trips, so we took our car. I drove down from Edinburgh to Stranraer, where we had lovely night in Thornbank House. If you will be ever had to oportunity to be there try that B&B, it have swiming pool, sauna and hot tube, well fitted rooms and spacious bathroom, everything you need to rest ;) Next day we took a ferry to Belfast and then we drove to see Caves of Cushendun. I am a great fan of Songs of Ice and Fire of George R. R. Martin and that place I had to see. That caves has been used in Games of Thrones drama, where Melisandre gave a birth of the shadow creature (S2E4) to kill Renly Baratheon. The place is amazing and very 'dark', great for that scene.
Jestem zagorzałym fanem :Pieśni Lodu i Ognia" Georga R. R. Martina i to miejsce musiałem zobaczyć. Jaskinie te zostały wykorzystane w serialu, gdzie Melisandre urodziła demona (S2E4) by zabić Renlyego Baratheona.

After that we moved to see the Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge. It is amazing experience walking through a rope bridge, waved by strong wind and be 30 m over the sea level. After that we drove to see Giant's Causawey and have a sit over there. Another amazing place. That was all for that day, as we had to be in Dublin that evening. We stayed in St.Helen Radissonblu hotel. Hotel is in the lovely Georgian house with beautiful garden. Next day my lady was busy and I had my free time in Dublin. I think that I have seen most of it. I have been to National Museum of Ireland, which have a very good collection of Celtic and Viking armoury and art. I have seen the Dublin Castle with Garda Memorial Garden and finaly I have visited St. Patrick's Cathedral with probable St. Patrick tombstone and famous the Door of Reconciliation.

Next day we have decided to see surroundings od Dublin. First we have visited the Powercourt House and Garden. This is an amazing place with a lovely garden which have an old tower, with a nice collection of old 19th centuries cannons. Then we have seen the Powercourt Waterfall. From where we moved to see Guiness Lake (it is like Scottish Lochs, but much more greener around) and finally to see the Glendalough village. Unfortunely it was raining all day long, so the pictures are not the best as they could be...

During our last day, we have visited the mighty Newgrange and I have took the opportunity to get inside. We also have seen the River Boyne, place of the famous battle. Then we moved back to Belfast (we have been in Belfast's docks where the "Titanic" was born, but we did not take the museum as we did not have enough time for it, the same was with HMS Caroline) and after that we took our ferry back to Scotland.
Podczas naszego ostatniego dnia odwiedzilismy potężny Newgrange i oczywiście skorzstałem z okazji by móc wejść do środka.
